All dogs deserve solid foundation training. Healthy relationships rely on clear communication, and by improving our methods of communication with our dogs, we can provide them with happier, more well balanced lives. The Summit K9 training philosophy is based on the principle that truly reliable behaviors can only be achieved after building strong foundation of motivation, communication, clarity, and consistency.
All Summit K9 trainers are required to have a deep understanding of canine learning theory and are always pursuing continued education in training and handling. We are committed to exploring a wide range of methods, techniques, and tools to help our clients achieve their full potential with their canine companions. We specialize in improving leash walking, establishing off-leash reliability, developing polite social skills, and generating calm behavior in the home.

Dogs enrolled in this program will spend the week building skills at the Summit K9 facility, and return home for practice with their owners for weekends!

Private Training
The curriculum for our Private Training program is highly individualized based on the owner's goals and dog’s behavioral needs. Private training packages for new clients must be preceded by a Training Consultation to ensure that this program is the correct match for the client's goals and in order to assist our trainers in creating a personalized base training plan to ensure optimal results.
Though this program is a great fit for dog owners seeking assistance in addressing specific problems and efficiently achieving their specific training goals, it still follows our holistic approach to shaping behavior. Our early classes will be focused on setting the dog up for success, creating management protocols to prevent the practice of bad habits as we work through the training plan, and building strong foundation skills that will be used to create long term behavior change (no band-aid solutions here!). Once we have a solid foundation of communication skills and trained behaviors, we will integrate these fundamentals into efficiently tackling problem behaviors and generating reliable and lasting real world skills.
New clients will be required to register for a minimum of 3 private training sessions, to be completed weekly over consecutive weeks. Once a client has completed a full program with Summit K9, they may be eligible for standalone private lessons in order to maintain their dog's behavior, continue their training progress, or begin working towards new behavior goals!

Hybrid Board & Train Program
The Summit K9 Board & Train program is specifically designed to lay the foundations for your ideal dog! Throughout their stay, your dog will receive extensive one-on-one training to build the skills necessary to ensure proper house manners, general calmness, basic obedience, and leash skills. Dogs enrolled in our 4-week program will also build essential skills foundation skills for off-leash reliability and safe socialization with other dogs and new people.
How it works:
Please note that this program is A HYBRID PROGRAM, during which dogs go home on the weekends, allowing owners to practice key skills alongside their dogs through the training process.
During the boarding portion of this program, participating dogs will be dropped off at the Summit K9 facility between 7:30am and 9:00am on Monday mornings. Dogs will receive intensive training throughout the week, targeting foundational skills to set them up for long term success. On Friday evenings, owners will pick up their dogs and complete a mandatory go-home lesson to learn key handling skills necessary for maintaining their dogs' progress, and will be expected to practice these skills while their dogs are home for the weekend. Owners will also receive follow up lessons following the boarding portion of the program to ensure that the introduced training is carrying over to the home environment!
Summit K9 Board and Train program is a head start service. Our programs focus heavily on including significant owner education to ensure that participants enjoy lasting results and continued progress long after their programs are completed. Owners who have completed the boarding portion of the program will enjoy multiple follow up lessons included in their packages, discounted applicable group classes, and free enrollment in our group skills practice classes in order to solidify their training for the long haul!
This program is specifically formulated to assist you in learning to implement a holistic training system with your dog that will yield optimal results. Dogs in this program will be conditioned to very consistent structure, streamlining their transition back into your home. Owners participating in this program must commit to utilizing a crate in their home regularly and continuing to maintain their dog's training after the completion of their boarding program in order to enjoy the highest degree of long term success.

Enroll in our Hybrid Board & Train services for a full behavior makeover. Head start your dog's training and manners or smooth out existing training for increased reliability! Our 2-week and 3-week Jumpstart program focuses on building strong on-leash skills and basic manners, while our 4 week program introduces off-leash obedience foundations and public access skills.

Open to dogs 6 months or older
Dogs MUST be potty trained before enrollment in this program.
*Please note that off-leash obedience, public access work, and socialization work is dependent on dog aptitude and behavior. For most dogs in the 4 week program, socialization and public access practice will be appropriate, however, dogs with significant problem behaviors such as reactivity, aggression, fearfulness, etc. may need more than 4 weeks to transition to these advanced skills.
